Judy Garrett - Alto

Judy was born into a family that loved music. Her earliest memories are of family and friends gathered around an old Heintzman upright grand player piano singing - in harmony, of course! There seem to be hundreds of songs rattling around inside her head. Some new, some old, some that haven’t yet been written. It was in her hometown of Leamington, in Southwestern Ontario , that she began to sing in various choirs from the age of about four. As a teenager, she formed a group called The Merrimaids along with three of her long-time friends. They sang all over southwestern Ontario and still get together at least once a year to harmonize. The highlight of their career was sing for the late Bob Hope. That was really the beginning of her love for quartet singing. It really is beyond bliss to be able to blend with three other voices. She studied Fine Arts and English at Queen’s University and met and married her beloved Daniel there. They have three children and a seven year old granddaughter. The other great joy of her life (besides her family and music) is martial arts. She has studied for many years at the Waterloo Kung Fu Academy and has a black sash in the Shaolin Five Animal style. That makes her the group’s unofficial bouncer! She met Brian met about 25 years ago when she moved to Kitchener , Ontario and joined a local church choir. They sang together in several quartets within the choir. She watched with delight as Jennifer, Brian’s daughter, grew up and developed a wonderful clear, warm, voice. When Brian, Jen and Chad were looking for an alto for their quartet, she was happy to have the chance to sing, once again, in a small group format. Like a hot bath filled with bubbles, a glass of wine, and the best Belgian chocolates, it really has been ‘Beyond Bliss’!
